The 15th annual IWCM Winter Charity Bazaar will take place from 10:00 - 16:00 on Saturday 3rd December in Pavilion 2 at Moldexpo, Chisinau.
Entrance is free and all are welcome to join in the fun!
The Winter Bazaar is a fantastic opportunity for the international and local communities to get together and have a great time raising money for charity. With so many Embassies, International Organisations, charities and local crafts producers taking part each year, the Winter Bazaar is a one day trip around the world without leaving Chisinau with lots of free entertainment along the way including a performance by Geta Burlacu!
It's a once a year chance to buy different national foods, gifts and souvenirs and to win fantastic prizes in our amazing raffle. Tickets cost just 10 Lei each and for our star prize Turkish Airlines have generously donated 3 return flights from Chisinau to Istanbul - and many other local and international companies donated amazing prizes too. And while you're enjoying all the fun of the Winter Bazaar, you can even visit Santa in his special booth!
Our main beneficiary this year is the Hippocrates Centre, a charitable medical facility in Chisinau which provides free specialist recovery and rehabilitation therapy to children with disabilities and chronic illnesses. Parents also receive the advice and support they need to understand the nature of their child's condition and how best to care for them at home, so that they can stay with their families and be part of the wider community. Physiotherapy, massage, occupational and speech therapy is provided at the centre so that the children learn to communicate, improve their motor skills and coordinate their movements. Many are taught how to write, draw, dress and feed themselves and with intensive help and encouragement some, who would otherwise need wheelchairs, learn to walk. For more information about the Hippocrates Centre, click here.
The Hippocrates Centre was founded with the generous support of Child Aid UK and the British comedian, writer and film maker, Tony Hawks, who donated the royalties from his book, Playing the Moldovans at Tennis. Tony has remained a firm friend of Moldova and the Hippocrates Centre and will return to Chisinau as part of his "Random Fun Tour". He will perform his unique and very funny brand of stand-up comedy at 18:00 on the 10th December 2011 at the Filarmonica Nationala, Str. Mitropolitul Varlaam 78. All proceeds will go to the Hippocrates Centre.
The IWCM sincerely thanks all of our generous sponsors and media partners for supporting the Winter Bazaar 2011.
